Arrival at Artiem Audax

We woke up at around 5:30 am on the morning we left and had to deal with a flight cancelation for part of our return flight. After some last-minute packing adjustments and a long wait for luggage drop-off in Boston, we left a bit after 6pm. This was followed by a series of flights (Boston -> Lisbon -> Madrid -> Menorca) with a few multi-hour layovers and some really long waits for passport checks in Lisbon, one to get into Portugal and the other to leave for Spain. The layovers in Lisbon were particularly painful as mentioned in the last post in part due to the really, really long distances between the gates and the fact that we walked past the turn off for the baggage pickup area. Our flight left late, and we were afraid we’d miss our connection in Madrid for Menorca. By some miracle the airport gate gods were kind, and our Menorca flight was only 2 gates away from our arrival gate. We were up for around 42 hours with only a few short snatches of sleep during the Boston to Lisbon leg.

Unbelievable you both look and sound great for being up 42 hours!

  2. They speak Catalan on Menorca?

I think some do, but it’s mostly straight-ahead Spanish, at least at our international gathering of photographers. Well, mostly English, of course, in all the presentations. There was a guy on the Photopills staff from Portuguese Madeira.
