Trip to Ericeira’s Beaches: Day 6
The weather was still hot, so we decided to abandon the city and escape to the beach. We got a rideshare to Ericeira, a town on the Atlantic coast north of the Sintra peninsula. Back in 2022, we thought about renting an apartment in Ericeira for our first year, but we were lucky to find our Caxias apartment with access to all of Lisboa culture. This was our first visit to explore the town where we might have lived.
We saw some good surf at Praia São Sebastião, then we walked through the village to Praia dos Pescadores and Praia da Baleia. We made stops at various cafes and ice cream counters.
We asked at a nice looking restaurant about dinner just as they opened at 6pm, but they were fully reserved until quite late. We walked on and found a small traditional Portuguese restaurant called No Largo Há Tasca (Translation of the name: In the square there is a little restaurant). Excellent food!

Note
Ericeira is a 40-minute drive by car from Caxias, but almost 2 hours on public transit. Buses to Mafra, near Ericeira, are covered by our Navegante monthly card for metro Lisboa, which is quite a bargain.
